Leda Deco

Leda Sklirou was born on the island of Lefkada and studied decorating at the Department of Interior Architecture and Morphology of the School of Graphic Arts and Art Studies of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, from where she graduated with distinction.


In the period from 2003 to 2004 she attended the master degree programme in interior design at the Department of Architecture of the University of Brighton. The title of her theoretical paper was ?Ornament and decoration. Raison d'etre through two parallel biographies?. She always wanted to create jewellery and this was an opportunity to study the field on a theoretical level.

 

She spent the first semester of 2000 in Madrid as an Erasmus-Socrates student in the Fine Arts Department of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where she primarily focused on engraving and nudes.
Her first professional steps in the field of decoration were taken at the Thrigos architectural firm in Athens, where she did her practical training.

 

Since 2005 she has been working in the field of decorating and jewellery design. She has engaged in the interior design of professional spaces, hotels, commercial stores, doctors? practices, etc. as well as residences. Since 2011 she has been collaborating with the New Acropolis Museum shop with a specially designed jewellery collection.


In 2010 she was involved in the design of the Folklore Museum of the Orfeas Club on Lefkada. This kick-started her further involvement in museum designs.

 

Since 2009 she has continued her postgraduate studies in the Department of Art Sciences of the University of Ioannina.
